Why Choose Our Centre

Our centre provides children with meaningful learning and discovery in open plan indoor educational environments. Additionally, our spectacular outdoor area is designed to stimulate children’s curiosity and wonder for nature. Through the landscaped surroundings and physical experiences available, we encourage children’s fundamental movement skills.

We are open from 8:15am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday.

We understand the increasing pressures parents experience balancing work and family life. It is our aim to minimise these pressures by creating a supportive, nurturing place that meets both parent and children’s needs. We offer a wide range of learning experiences designed to build knowledge and test limits; we also offer Risk Play in safe, controlled environments.

What we provide

Every child will receive:

  • A wide range of hands-on learning experiences within the centre and wider community
  • Morning tea
  • Afternoon tea
  • Nappies and wipes

What families provide

Parents need to provide a healthy lunch for their child. Babies should be sent with refrigerated breastmilk  or formula and suitable food for the duration of the day. We welcome breast-feeding mothers to come in and feed their babies.

Affordable fees

Rebates are available to cover part of childcare fees. More information can be found on the myGov website.

The Parent Handbook

For all our centre information, you can download the Hillston Billylids Parents Handbook (PDF). it contains information on our centre, fees, procedures and more on our philosophy and mission statement.

Philosophy

At Billylids every child is important. We encourage each child to grow and learn in a fun and educational setting. We believe this means creating a warm, loving, safe and nurturing environment that fosters the individual needs of each child. Billylids offer the highest quality child care service to all families regardless of race, religion, social or economic background, culture, sex or abilities.

Children are encouraged to follow their own interests and where possible, record what they do through paint, craft, song and drawing. This allows the children to take the lead and become, in a sense, facilitators for their own curriculum.

Our staff provide, support, assistance and information to parents on early childhood development and ensure parents are actively informed of, and welcome to participate in, Centre activities. Our centre aims to fulfil the nutritional needs and requirements of all children.

Billylids employs only the highest quality trained staff who are encouraged and supported in continuous professional development.

Our Centre’s overall aim is to allow each child in our care to achieve their potential and to find ways to achieve this creatively.  We teach children to understand our surrounding cultural environment and to care for our natural environment.

Framework

Hillston Billylids embraces meaningful, play-based learning. Our programs fall under the Government’s Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), intended to maximise the potential of children; developing skills and aptitudes required for a rapidly changing world.

“Play provides opportunities for children to learn, as they discover, create, improvise and imagine.” (Framework, p.15)”

Meet Cheryl

Centre Director

I have been working in the childcare industry since 2005, working up from an assistant position to a group leader, and now a Centre Director. I have a Diploma in Children’s Services and throughout my career I have had the opportunity to work with different age groups and across a variety of areas in the industry.

Our children are our future so we have a great responsibility to ensure they are comfortable and cared for, giving them every chance to learn and grow. They are at the heart of everything we do. The team I am fortunate to work with share my passion for seeing children meet their potential.

My Mother’s Day gift made me cry, it was the first homemade present from my toddler. It made me feel very special. Maeve went all coy on me when I praised her about it so I know she was proud of it too.
